The Ocean View Skatepark Association is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to making the dream of a public skatepark in the Ocean View community a reality. Our vision is to provide children and families with a safe and accessible space that promotes habitual fitness activity and community engagement.

  • What began as a small grassroots effort has evolved into a vibrant, community-wide movement—now officially approved for construction and entering Phase II.

  •  As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, we are committed to generating awareness and funding to construct a free-to-use public outdoor skatepark.

Having locked in the perfect location, we're hard at work right now designing a skatepark that best serves skaters of all ages, skill levels, and backgrounds in our community.

  • We believe that our mission aligns with the values of the Skatepark Foundation (formerly the Tony Hawk Foundation), as we aim to provide opportunities for young people to stay active, build confidence, and develop a sense of community through skateboarding. As such, we would be honored to collaborate with the Skatepark Foundation to bring this project to fruition.

Perched on the rugged lava flows of Mauna Loa in the southern Ka‘u district, Hawaiian Ocean View is a vast, off-grid community defined by its resilient spirit and dramatic volcanic landscape. Home to a diverse population of roughly 4,000 residents, the area lacks traditional infrastructure, leaving local youth with few safe spaces to gather or play. Building a skate park is a vital necessity for the community; it would provide a much-needed sanctuary from the sharp, hazardous a‘a lava terrain and offer an accessible outlet for physical activity in an isolated region. By establishing this hub, Ocean View can foster social connection, promote healthy lifestyles, and give its youth a sense of pride and belonging in one of Hawai‘i’s most unique environments.
